“Our stage is the biggest in the Balearics, and for next summer, we will build one of the most stunning immersive experiences, that Europe has seen.”

A new mega project in Levante on Platja de Palma is revolutionising the island’s entertainment scene. The concept was developed by renowned British singer/entrepreneur Recardo Patrick and experienced business partners such as Oscar Ruiz del Rio, former CEO of Pacha Group and Meliá Hotels & Resorts. AMØK MALLORCA is a unique, unconventional platform covering 30,000 square metres in Levante near Platja de Palma. Starting next season, modern leisure activities such as live concerts, charity events and fashion shows will take place in this sought-after Mediterranean setting.

Excellence across all levels comes as a standard. Exciting design for the luxurious indoor and outdoor areas meets leading entertainment technology. Excellent cuisine is served to the backdrop of performances by world-class artists. Outstanding service ensures an inspiring atmosphere, the aim of which is to put the island’s energy into a completely new context — to create an island of its own, the ISLAND PARADØX.

Amok is a breathtaking architectural space with a contemporary, avant-garde design that extends over 30,000 square metres and is divided into various indoor and outdoor areas.

For around 150 days a year, AMØK MALLORCA will be an exclusive pool club with a restaurant and nightclub, a meeting place for over 3,000 discerning guests from all over the world. AMØK opened the nightclub in July 2024 in collaboration with award-winning gastronomy partner Vandal, offering great entertainment ever since with a high-calibre event calendar of exclusive pop-up dinners and sets by renowned DJs. The artificial lagoon with a pool covering 15,000 square metres is due to be inaugurated in May 2025.

AMØK MALLORCA co-founder Recardo Patrick spoke to DeluxeMallorca.com about his five-decade-long career as a celebrated soul singer and music producer — he is known for co-writing Status Quo’s hit single In The Army Now —, about his life in Ibiza and the plans for his current project.

Mr Patrick, AMØK MALLORCA started its first season this summer. Which items on the programme would you particularly wish to recommend over the coming months?

GLAMØK on Saturdays is my favourite party, as I am hosting it. It is glamorous, based on the vibe of the legendary Studio 54 happenings or the Andy Warhol factory parties, glitzy and discoey with live artists and vocal house music. Ticket prices start at an affordable 25 euros. VIP tables are also available.

With artists such as house DJ Todd Terry, you have been bringing the biggest names in the music business since the 90s to Mallorca. To what extent do you draw on contacts from your performances as a singer when making bookings?

Since I am still singing, I draw on those contacts massively. Many fellow artists I do shows with, I can just call up directly, like John Morales, who is my hero; he will be performing at AMØK on 7th September. This season, you book our exceptional Mediterranean-Asian inspired Vandal popup dinner experience at 8 pm — head chef Bernabé Caravotta’s ceviche with coconut foam is simply the best —, and around midnight the DJ arrives … like in Ibiza, the nighttime schedule is fluid.

In Ischgl, Recardo presented the Rich Prosecco show and interviewed Paris Hilton in front of 40.000 people.

In the five decades of your career as a show star, you have performed with icons such as Michael and Janet Jackson, Prince, George Michael and Whitney Houston. Who was a lasting inspiration for you and what experiences from this time have been incorporated into the new AMØK MALLORCA project?

The most influential person I ever met was President Clinton. He came to one of our events in Ischgl, Austria, that I had organised together with my friend and mentor, hotelier Günther Aloys. Clinton’s speed of answering questions awed me. I posed one in particular I had always wanted to know. “Do UFOs exist?”, which he answered wisely.

As an artist, my greatest inspiration was always Michael Jackson. We sang together when he was very young, and later I presented him at the Michael Jackson & Friends concert in 1999 in Munich. The element of live performance is key for me, I love sax players, dancers or vocals. Into AMØK, I brought live entertainment and glitz. Our stage of 650 sqm is the biggest in the Balearics, and for next year, we will build the most stunning immersive experience, that Europe has seen. Think Sphere Las Vegas.

The major streaming platforms have digitalised and completely changed the music business, and today many musicians live mainly from live performances. What do you think of this change?

It is bad for the industry. In my era, I sold records and CDs, or I got paid royalties. Today a musician can have 3 million plays and gets paid virtually nothing, maybe 3,000 euros. Therefore, live performances become more expensive, as it is the main source of income.

You live in beautiful Cheshire, UK, and since 1984 part-time in Ibiza, Spain. What is a must-see in Ibiza from your point of view? You like swimming and cycling; is there a favourite route that you would like to share?

Besides long-distance swimming and jellyfish spotting, I love to take the ferry to Formentera twice a week, I bring my bike and ride up to La Mola at the top, take a swim, and relax. It is mind-blowing.

AMØK MALLORCA will mainly be busy in the summer season between May and October, but you have plans for winter as well, we hear.

Throughout winter we are planning to open on weekends as well as for an extravagant Halloween night. A spectacular New Year’s Eve party is in the making to welcome 2025, so stay tuned, and sign in for our newsletter.

Contrary to expectations, you say you are the first to leave a party. As a practising Christian, you meditate each day and support several charity projects.

My childhood as one of the only citizens ever in UK history to have gone through 27 children’s homes has made me very sensitive and passionate about helping people who lack direction or belief. For twelve years, I have spent a few weeks each summer at a retreat in Mallorca for only four people, an experience that I can truly recommend. I find my strength in my weakness and through being emotional. Also, I support the Great Ormond Street Charity as well as the Paget’s Association, amongst others.

With AMØK MALLORCA a dream has come true. I wanted to create a club, that was a full-on entertainment experience. Not just a nightclub, not just a restaurant, but a place designed to give our guests a 360-degree experience, from going to the pool to taking a shower before having excellent food and listening to the best music.

A well-known pioneer in the industry, Günther Aloys, who some may remember for running Nassau Beach in Palma until 2017, is my biggest influence; he changed my life. My partner today is Oscar Ruiz del Rio; he was in charge of brands such as Pacha and Meliá. He knows the island and its international clientele. Together we will build something grand, and we look forward to welcoming you there.

Mr Patrick, thank you very much for your time.

AMØK has opened, on its first floor, the VANDAL POP-UP, recognised for its innovative fusion cuisine. From 8 pm to midnight it is possible to enjoy the exquisite menu of chef Bernabé Caravotta, who combines techniques and flavours from all corners of the world, in a unique environment.
