CAN, Contemporary Art Nows‘ second edition starts in Ibiza this July
Its first edition in 2022 closed its doors with a spontaneous applause as gallerists, collectors and visitors celebrated the success of the international art fair CAN, Contemporary Art Now. The 2023 edition will take place between the 12th and 16th of July with almost forty international galleries from five continents. The fair will be held at FECOEV, the island’s exhibition centre.
CAN is a fair by invitation, curated by the Croatian art critic and curator Sasha Bogojev. It is an initiative of Sergio Sancho, cultural agitator and founder of UVNT Art Fair, „our idea here in Ibiza is to mix business with pleasure.“
CAN defines itself as a showcase to discover the new languages of contemporary art, creating a dialogue with both established artists, who have stood out in recent decades, and emerging artists, with a great international projection. The fair is only open in the afternoons and has an extensive collectors‘ programme that allows visitors to discover the local art and creative scene. Among the galleries that participated in the first edition are Nanzuka from Tokyo, L21 from Palma de Mallorca, Allouche Benias from Athens, Galeria Alegria from Barcelona and The Hole from New York. ArtNet stated:
„With works ranging from 1,500 to 200,000 dollars, the fair offered a competitive selection that was tempting for collectors. Eighty per cent of the pieces on show were sold.“
